Welcome to ASIA SOURCE 3!

AsiaSource 3 is on! Welcome participants! Here are some basic information about the Philippines and the camp site.

Your arrival
From the airport, depending on what route you are going to take and the traffic conditions prevailing at the time it is approximately a one and half hour drive.  If you would pass by the cavite coastal road hi way you would be passing through the towns of Bacoor, Imus and Dasmarinas in Cavite.  From the south Luzon expressway you would be entering the province of cavite through the town of Carmona and Dasmarinas (please see the map)

Silang Cavite
The municipality of Silang is approximately 45 kilometers south of Manila. General Trias, Dasmariñas and General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) bound it on the south and on the west by Amadeo. Silang is noted for its relatively cool and invigorating climate. Silang Cavite is mostly an agricultural town . The primary crops grown in the area are coconut, coffee, corn, banana, pineapple, and tree crops like mango, lansones, caimito, santol, jackfruit, guava, and avocado. Fertile soils and abundant water sources make Silang suitable not only for common commercial crops but also for high value and exotic crops production.

Climate
The town Is located in the mountainous region of Cavite therefore the climate is relatively cool than the rest of the low lying areas in the province.  in the morning expect a sunny slightly hot climate most especially at noon time but the cool mountain air blowing would make it very conducive site for learning.  Since it is already November nighttime would be much colder most especially in the early morning or at dawn.  Bringing of heavy clothing gear is not recommended, wind jammers or sweaters will suffice.  Also it is recommended if you could bring an umbrella during your stay since most of the time it rains during the afternoons.

Where to go:
Silang is considered to be a first class municipality and therefore it has a complete set of amenities that you are going to need during your stay.  The venue is about a 5 minute drive to the town center where the banks, fast food outlets and stores to buy your things are located.

About 5 minutes away from the venue driving north, there situated is the town of Dasmarinas.  It is also a first class municipality with all the amenities that you need.  There are three shopping malls located in the town like Robinson’s Mall, SM City and Waltermart.  It also has a number of first class hospitals that can cater to your health needs if there is a need for it.

Driving further south or about another 30 to 45 minute drive is the city of Tagaytay which is considered to be the little City of Pines in the South. Tagaytay city is also a first class city which has a breath taking view of the Taal Volcano and the Taal Lake which is considered to be the smallest volcano in the world.  Along the tagaytay ridge are a number of eating establishments where one could enjoy the great sight and great food. The city of tagaytay also has a number of amenities for your needs like hotels, a casino, a mall and a market where you can buy native delicacies and local fruits during your stay.
